What to Expect: Answers to Your Most Frequently Asked Photography Questions
General Questions

I offer Personal Branding, Headshots, Contemporary Portrait Sessions, High School Senior and College Graduation Sessions. Whether you need photos to grow your business or want to celebrate yourself or a special milestone, we’ll create images that feel true to you.
My specialty is working with women over the age of 40, but I also love those graduates. There’s something very special about these two demographics because they’re often starting a new and exciting chapter in life.
Most sessions are held in my studio, but we can also shoot outdoors or at another location, such as your office, especially for branding sessions. We’ll decide what’s best during your consultation.
Yes! You’re welcome to include others in your session.
If you're a business owner, you might want to include your team, business partner, or employees, especially if they play a key role in your brand. For many small businesses, those connections are like family, and capturing them can help tell your full brand story.
If you're booking a portrait session, you can also include a spouse, partner, or family members if the session feels like a celebration of a moment you’ve shared. Just let me know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly. Professional hair and makeup can be added for additional people if needed.
That said, you also have full permission to make this session just about YOU. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is step in front of the camera alone and claim this moment for yourself.
Most photoshoots are scheduled on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and select Fridays.
No matter which day you choose, I always suggest planning something fun for afterward—a date night, dinner with friends, or just time to enjoy how amazing you look and feel. You’ll be pampered, styled, and glowing so why not make the most of it?
Custom Sessions are usually booked 1 to 2 months in advance. That gives us time to do your Style Consultation and make sure you're prepared for your session. Sometimes reschedules open up spots sooner. If you’d like to be on the waitlist for an earlier session, just let me know so we can make sure you’re fully prepared if a spot becomes available.
Headshot Minis are scheduled once or twice a month and those dates fill up quickly. The best way to be the first to know about upcoming Mini Days is to join my email list for early access and announcements.
I completely understand that life happens! I also schedule time with a professional hair and makeup artist just for your session, so here’s how rescheduling works:
You’re allowed one reschedule at no charge as long as it’s made 7 or more days before your session.
If you need to reschedule with less than 7 days’ notice, or this is your second reschedule, an additional rescheduling fee will apply.
Please note that your Session Fee is non-refundable, as it secures your date and covers prep time leading up to your shoot.
For Headshot Minis, we’ll review your images right after your session so you can choose your favorites before you leave.
For Custom Sessions, you’ll return for a separate viewing appointment. This gives me time to do a very light edit and prepare your images so you can see them at their best. Once you’ve selected your final images, we’ll also talk through any additional edits you’d like to see.
If we’re shooting in the studio, my camera is connected to my laptop, so you’ll see a few images during your session. This gives you a real-time preview and helps build confidence as we go.
Images are sold separately, so you only purchase the ones you love. I’ll guide you through every step, helping you choose the images that feel most like you and answering any questions about retouching, cropping, or how you can use them.
When you purchase your images, you’ll receive digital files that you can use online or in print.
I also offer a range of beautiful, tangible products to help you enjoy your portraits in your home or office. These include:
-
Matted prints
-
Albums
-
Folio boxes
-
Wall art in a variety of finishes
One of the most popular pieces is an Italian hand-crafted folio box. It’s designed to sit on a shelf or mantel like a living frame where you can swap out the front image anytime to feature a new favorite.
Wall art is available in metal, acrylic, Italian cotton canvas, and fine art prints, all carefully chosen to showcase your portraits at their best.
To make selecting wall art easy, I use a special program that shows you exactly how your portraits will look on your own walls. It takes the guesswork out of sizing and helps you choose the perfect pieces for your space.
That depends on the type of session and how many images you choose.
Headshot Minis start at $550 and include 2 images. These are quick, in-studio sessions without professional hair and makeup or a style consultation.
Custom Sessions have a $600 session fee, which includes:
-
A style consultation to plan your wardrobe, session goals, and vision
-
Professional hair and makeup on the day of your shoot
-
A fully guided photoshoot with posing help from head to toe
-
Multiple wardrobe changes and a variety of studio backdrops
-
The option to shoot both in-studio and outdoors or on-location
-
A reveal and ordering appointment to view and select your final images
Images are sold separately, starting at $275 each, with special value pricing available when you purchase 6 or more.
Most Custom Session clients spend between $2,000 and $6,000, depending on how they choose to enjoy their images—digitally, in print, or as stunning wall art.
We’ll walk through all your options together during your discovery call so you feel clear, confident, and excited about your investment.
Session Planning Questions
Don’t worry. I’ve got you! What you wear plays a big part in how you feel during your session, and I’m here to help every step of the way.
For Custom Sessions, we’ll begin with a Style Consultation where we plan your session in detail. You’ll have time for multiple wardrobe changes, which means you can show the many sides of yourself—professional, personal, and everything in between. Think of it like an adult dress-up playdate. You might choose a gown, a power suit, a casual jeans-and-tee combo, a flowy sundress, or your favorite yoga wear. Some clients even opt for lingerie or implied nude portraits to create something more personal and raw.
This session is about you and how you want to be seen. We’ll build a wardrobe plan that reflects your style, your story, and your comfort level.
If you're booking a Headshot Mini, you’ll receive a helpful prep guide with tips on what photographs best, so you’ll still feel confident and prepared.
No matter which session you choose, you’ll be guided with care and creativity so your photos reflect you at your most confident, natural, and true.
Absolutely. Most of my clients feel the same way at first. I guide you through every step so you feel relaxed, supported, and confident throughout your session.
Yes! Custom portrait and branding sessions include professional hair and makeup by a trusted artist. It’s a fun, relaxing way to start your session and helps you feel polished and camera-ready.
Headshots are perfect if you need one or two images for LinkedIn, a company website, or your email signature. Personal Branding Sessions are more in-depth and designed for business owners who want a collection of images for websites, social media, and marketing materials.
“This Is Me” is a raw, black-and-white portrait session focused on authenticity. There’s no professional hair or makeup, no retouching, and no pressure. It’s about showing up exactly as you are and being proud of that.
