Finishing graduate school and becoming a nurse practitioner

What was one of the happiest moments of your life so far?
Giving birth to my two boys

Looking back on your life, what’s a lesson you’ve learned that has stayed with you?
Being able to stand on my own 2 feet and not be reliant on anyone if I don’t need to be

When in your life, so far, have you felt most confident and why?
Mid-sixties and on. More Self-assured, self-confident, and I don’t give a damn what other people think anymore

What is your favorite trait about yourself?
Being kind and understanding

Your Thoughts on Aging:

Are there any myths you would like to bust about being over 40, 50, 60 or 70?
Life gets better and better and you don’t have to have a man to make it so.

How has turning 40, 50, 60 or 70 changed your outlook on life?
Being more reflective on the past and embracing the time that is left.

How do you embrace the changes that come with getting older?
Acceptance, it happens to everyone

What are some of the things you enjoy now that you might not have appreciated in the past?
Having do nothing days and being ok with it.

Future Aspirations:

What’s one thing on your bucket list that you’re determined to accomplish and what’s your favorite thing you’ve checked off?
Travel and more travel

What does it mean to you to live fully at this stage of life?
Being Comfortable in my own skin. Stop looking for happiness outside myself.

What is the one piece of advice you would give your 20 something self?
Don’t get married so early

What’s something that always makes you laugh, no matter how many times you hear or see it?
Children being silly

What are you passionate about? What brings you joy?
Planting my garden and watching it grow

What made you decide to participate in the Fabulous Over 40 Portrait Experience?
I’ve never done anything like that before. It was a present to myself.

How did the photoshoot make you feel during and after the session?
It was very relaxing and fun at the same time. I love the pictures. I thought they were very flattering, which made me feel really good about myself.

How did this portrait experience change the way you see yourself?
It made me feel more attractive.
