Completing my Doctor of Nursing (DNP) degree while in my 50s.

What was one of the happiest moments of your life so far?
Births of each of my three children.

Looking back on your life, what’s a lesson you’ve learned that has stayed with you?
I used to rely on others to make me happy and improve my self-worth. Realizing this placed unfair pressure on them and resulted in constant state of

When in your life, so far, have you felt most confident and why?
Growing up shy, I overcame that by caring for patients at the bedside. I had to be confident in my nursing skills.

What is your favorite trait about yourself?
As a nurse, I am patient and kind.

Your Thoughts on Aging:

How has turning 40, 50, 60 or 70 changed your outlook on life?
I love the wisdom accompanying aging, life experiences, and the foresight to avoid repeating mistakes made when I was younger.

What are some of the things you enjoy now that you might not have appreciated in the past?
I appreciate life’s “smaller” things, such as lunch with friends and family, a weekend getaway, or quiet time on my back patio.

Future Aspirations:

What does it mean to you to live fully at this stage of life?
No regrets, live life looking in the windshield rather than the rearview mirror.

Finding Joy:

What’s something that always makes you laugh, no matter how many times you hear or see it?
I enjoy hearing from my three children and spending time with grandchildren.

What are you passionate about? What brings you joy?
Worshipping and serving the Lord is central to my belief system. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light (John 14:6)

What made you decide to participate in the Fabulous Over 40 Portrait Experience?
I wanted a professional photo for the Jessup University website.

How did the photoshoot make you feel during and after the session?
I do not usually purchase expensive clothing or wear a lot of make-up.

How did this portrait experience change the way you see yourself?
My family thought the photos were “fake” and “photo shopped”. I never thought they could look so realistic.
